Do you have a tough time keeping your plants alive? Succulents seem to be your option, as they need watering just once a month.
Jolene Schmitz, a horticulturist who owns Jolene’s Living Creations, taught participants this fact and others in her succulent class on Tuesday, August 23 at Sista’s Corner.
• water soil only when it is completely dry
• drench the soil; don’t use a spray bottle
• place succulents by a sunny window when indoors
• give plant more light when it stretches, greens or fades
• water plants if they are limp, have wrinkled leaves
• stop watering a plant if it has musty, translucent leaves
In addition to giving participants tips, Schmitz provided plants, pots, soil and decorative rocks for participants to make their own potted succulent.
