COLUMBUS — METRICH is one of more than two dozen local drug task forces in Ohio to receive state support for their work to disrupt the drug trade and promote substance use awareness, prevention and recovery. METRICH — which serves Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Hancock, Huron, Marion, Morrow, Seneca and Wyandot counties — will receive $124,191.
Nearly $2.3 million in grants from Gov. Mike DeWine’s RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund will be awarded among 30 existing drug task forces to help them identify high-level drug traffickers, dismantle large drug trafficking organizations, interrupt the flow of money and drugs from international cartels, and prevent the sale of illegal narcotics to those suffering from substance use disorder.
Grant funding will also be used to support the mission of the RecoveryOhio initiative, which aims to increase substance use and mental health awareness, implement age-appropriate prevention education in schools, connect those who need help with treatment, and promote recovery.
Colonel Crawford American Legion Post 181 will hold a flag retirement ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Dapper Cabin at Colonel Crawford School. They will be retiring the flags by a ritual fire. These are the worn flags that flew over veterans graves and tattered and worn flags from around the Bucyrus area.
The public is invited to participate in the ceremony. If you have a tattered flag you would like included, bring it that day or place it in the flag drop box outside the front door of the Legion Post at 123 E. Rensselaer St. in Bucyrus.
