The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino presents the 39th Annual Succulent Plants Symposium on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Rothenberg Hall. 

This in-person event features notable speakers from around the world, diverse topics, a silent auction, and a succulent plant sale. 

Your registration includes continental breakfast and lunch. 

Among the speakers are Root Gorelick, from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, who will speak about “Cacti of Anthony Gap, Texas/New Mexico” and Guillermo Rivera, of Plant Expeditions is Sarasota, Florida, who will speak about “Socotra, The Forgotten Island.”

Jared Margulies, of the University of Alabama in Birmingham talks about “What drives illicit succulent trade and how should the conservation community respond?”

The Huntington’s John Trager will provide an update on their Desert Garden Entry Project; Daniel Mahr, of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, will discuss “Memorable places and the Succulents that Live There.” 

Olwen Grace, from the Royal Botanic Gardens in London, will speak about “Water storage and evolution in the Succulent Plants of the African continent.”
