When you think about a Mother's Day gift, perhaps a LEGO set isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But two new entries in the LEGO Botanical Collection are now available, just in time for Mother's Day (which is on May 8 this year), and honestly I think they'd make great gifts for the right kind of mom.

The new Succulents and Orchid sets are the latest in the black-box series intended for people age 18+. Since they're for adults, they're meant to be built and set out on display. Maybe a mother in your life would want one. Or maybe you want to add some buildable greenery to your own house or office. The sets cost $49.99 each, and they’re available now.

Whoever you buy them for, they look like pretty fun and unique builds. As a bonus, you don’t need to water them -- though the occasional dusting may be necessary over time.

The Succulents set is comprised of nine different plants that you can group together for display, or divide into multiple smaller sets to place in different areas, or on different shelves on a bookcase. It also divides the instructions into three booklets, so you can work on it together with another person or two -- another reason it makes a good Mother's Day gift.

The Orchid set is also highly customizable. After you build the flower pot, you can shape the plant in a variety of different ways. You can rotate the stems, blooms, and roots to make it look exactly how you want it to look.

With the addition of the Succulents and Orchid sets, the LEGO Botanical Collection now consists of five sets. There are the two above, plus Bonsai, Flower Bouquet, and Bird of Paradise. These might not appeal to everyone, but plenty of people enjoy piecing together a LEGO set and having something nice to display on a shelf.
