Flowers are more than a lovely Mother’s Day gift. They’re a symbol of life and fertility, the gift our moms gave us. We like them because they bring beauty and happiness into a room. In case you’re wondering, we like tulips. And gerbera daisies. And, well, everything. That’s, perhaps, why a mixed bouquet is so appropriate. It’s a collection of so many flowers ... like a party in a vase.

Below is a roundup of flower arrangements, plants and baskets you can order online and have delivered in time for Mother’s Day this Sunday, May 8 for your mom, grandma and wife.

If you know mom’s favorite flowers, however, it may be appropriate to stick with those. They show you are listening, that you see and hear mom. Being seen and heard is one of our most universal desires.

Once received, plopping the stems into a vase and walking away may work. It’s better, however, to lightly trim the stems. Then, because flowers are living, provide a supply of fresh water daily. To facilitate water uptake, it helps to trim the stems a little every few days.
